Grand Court Charitable Endeavors

In addition to its support of the Amaranth Diabetes Foundation, Inc., the Grand Court of Connecticut, Order of the Amaranth, supports three other charities.  These are (1) the Amaranth Scholarship Fund, (2) the Masonic Charity Foundation and (3) the Henry P. Wirth Fund.

The Grand Court of Connecticut through its Amaranth Scholarship programs gives $500 scholarship to deserving college students.  To be eligible, a student must be (1) a current member or senior member of the Order of DeMolay for Boys in Connecticut or a current member or majority member of the International Order of Rainbow for Girls in Connecticut, (2)  daughter, son, granddaughter or grandson of a Connecticut Amaranth member or (3) a member of the Order of Amaranth within Connecticut.  Over the last several years, the Grand Court has awarded anywhere from seven to ten scholarships each year.  Applications for Scholarships can be obtained from any Court of The Order of the Amaranth within Connecticut or by downloading here.  The annual deadline for applying for an Amaranth Scholarship is February 1st.

As a part of the Connecticut Masonic Family, the Grand Court of Connecticut raises money to help with the maintenance of senior members of the Order who are under the care of Masonicare at either the Masonic Health Care Center in Wallingford or at Ashlar of Newtown.

Finally, the Order recognizes that there are occasions when members are having a hard time.  The Grand Court is able to aid these members with emergency financial assistance without undue embarrassment  through the Henry P. Wirth Fund.  Only members of the Board of the Henry P. Wirth Fund, who investigate every request, know the name of the Honored Lady or Sir Knight who is suffering and the amount of assistance that has been afforded them.
